Teen Volunteer Sessions at the library
If you are in grades 6-12 and interested in volunteering, here is how it works:
We have 3 volunteer sessions per year; if you want to volunteer for one of these sessions, you need to submit an online application prior to the deadline for that session.
The 3 sessions run as follows:
- a fall session that runs September through January (with online applications due around mid-end August)
- a winter session that runs February through May ( with online applications due around mid-January)
- a summer session that runs June through August (with online applications due around mid/end May). Summer volunteers are only open to teens that have completed 6th grade (entering grades 7-12 in the fall).
During the school year….
Teen volunteers primarily help keep the youth area clean and organized. Additionally they help create storytime nametags, bulletin boards, hang artwork, etc.
During the summer…
Teen volunteers primarily help assist with youth events/classes and summer reading. Additionally they help with craft and program preparations as well as keeping the youth area clean and organized.
Fall Teen Volunteers 2019
Fall teen volunteers (grades 6-12) will be scheduled for the same shift (ie. every other Monday afternoon) for the session. This session begins mid September and runs through January. Application deadline is 5pm on Friday, August 30.
Volunteer tasks include: keeping the Youth Area straightened up & clean, helping cut & prepare materials for youth crafts, and cleaning early literacy activities/toys. We will be counting on you to remember when your shift is and work independently once you understand the tasks you are assigned.
Apply online here! Applications will be reviewed and selected volunteers will be contacted by September 9, 2019. If selected to be a volunteer, you will receive a booklet with more details about what to expect. When completing the application, select the shifts for which you are available and will work best with your schedule. You won’t be selected for more than one shift so select as many shifts as will work with your schedule.
