Adaptive Literacy Class (ages 6-17 with developmental/neurological disabilities and parents/caregivers)

This free literacy class features rhymes, songs, stories, and a letter of the day for ages 6-17 with developmental and/or neurological disabilities and their caregivers. A visual schedule and timer, fidgets, and other adaptive tools will be on hand. Please feel free to bring your own as well.
Parents/caregivers will participate with their child(ren). Registration is required and begins at 9am on Wednesday, February 25. Please register the name of one person from each group/family who will be attending and indicate how many in your group/family plan to attend.

Family Fun Day: Celebrate Early Childhood! (ages 0-5 with parents/caregivers)

Celebrate early childhood at this unique event! Kids can meet their favorite book characters—Elephant & Piggie—and dance and sing along with “The Music Lady” in an interactive stage show from 11:00 to 11:30am. A wide variety of hands-on activities that encourage early literacy and STEAM skills are available throughout the morning, plus a big movement area and a young toddler area. Each child may select a free book (one per child) while supplies last.
This free, drop-in event takes place on the field on the lower level of 2|42 Community Center (7526 Grand River Ave, Brighton, MI 48114). The interactive stage show featuring “The Music Lady” is in the auditorium next to the field.

Get inspired by the artwork around you as you and your child create fingerpainting masterpieces, torn paper collages, colorful mark-making, and more. Enjoy book sharing, a whole-body play area, and creative fun together. Pizza and snack kits will be provided while supplies last.
