Bim the Bunny's Magic Puppet Show!

Step into a world of wonder with Bim the Bunny’s Magic Puppet Show, an enchanting and interactive puppet performance filled with laughter and surprises. Bim the Bunny is the enthusiastic assistant to a mysterious and talented magician. While the magician tries to perform his dazzling tricks, Bim’s playful antics often lead to unexpected magical mishaps! With the help of the audience, Bim must learn to follow directions, believe in himself, and maybe—just maybe—pull off a bit of real magic on his own!

Noon Years Eve Dance Party (ages 2-6 with parents/caregivers)

Put on your dancing shoes! Parents/caregivers and children 2-6 years old can join library staff for an indoor Noon Years Eve Dance Party. This free event features 20-30 minutes of nonstop dancing as we count down to noon—ending with a balloon drop. Get ready to move and groove to both new tunes and old favorites. All ages are welcome to attend.

Polar Bear Models: Arctic Awareness (grades 3-5)

December 30, 2025 02:00PM-03:00PM @ Meabon Room - Howell Carnegie Library (30 seats)

Polar bears are incredible animals that face numerous threats to their survival. In this event, participants will imagine what life is like for these majestic creatures and follow in the footsteps of Margaret “Mardy” Murie, who is known as the grandmother of the conservation movement. Participants will sculpt polar bears on an ice floe and use paints and mixing mediums to create effects resembling the fur of these animals and their Arctic habitat.

Registration is required and will begin at 9am on Tuesday, December 16. Please register each child who will attend.

Parent Child Workshop (Winter Session) (ages 0-3 with parents/caregivers)

Registration is required and begins at 9am on Monday, December 22, 2025, for this session (January 5-February 2, 2026). Please individually register EACH parent, child, and infant who will be attending.

The Parent Child Workshop is for children 6 months to 3 years old and their parent(s)/caregiver(s). Siblings 5 years and younger are also welcome. Spend time together, play, experience art activities, and meet new friends. Community Resource Specialists informally discuss child development, speech and hearing, nutrition, and play and movement. 

Workshop format: 

  • The workshop is a place to connect with other families and community members while spending time playing with your child. During unstructured playtime, families are encouraged to move about the room exploring different types of play, including dramatic, construction, language, gross motor, fine motor, and an art/activity station. While playing with your child, you can informally discuss any concerns or questions you have with that week’s Community Resource Specialist. 
  • After about 50 minutes of unstructured playtime, we have about 5 minutes of clean-up, where everyone helps put toys back into bins and closes the lids. 
  • After clean-up, we will have a brief circle time to sing songs and rhymes together before the workshop ends.

Guidelines for the workshop:

  • The Parent Child Workshop is designed to give you or your caregiver a special time with your child for playing, reading, and spending interactive quality time together.
  • Please handle situations concerning your child in a quiet, gentle manner.
  • Remain with your child at all times. 
  • With the exception of bottles necessary for infants, no food is allowed in the room. 
  • Library staff will be in the area at all times available to offer assistance as information and resource specialists.
  • Please stay home if you or your child is sick.

What to expect this week:

  • This week’s Community Resource Specialist focuses on the library and literacy. 
  • This week’s art/activity station will feature coloring and twisting a coffee filter to turn it into a butterfly.

This free literacy class features rhymes, songs, stories, and a letter of the day for ages 6-17 with developmental and/or neurological disabilities and their caregivers. A visual schedule and timer, fidgets, and other adaptive tools will be on hand. Please feel free to bring your own as well. 

Parents/caregivers will participate with their child(ren). Registration is required and begins at 9am on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. Please register the name of one person from each group/family who will be attending and indicate how many in your group/family plan to attend.

  • The workshop is a place to connect with other families and community members while spending time playing with your child. During unstructured playtime, families are encouraged to move about the room exploring different types of play, including dramatic, construction, language, gross motor, fine motor, and an art/activity station. While playing with your child, you can informally discuss any concerns or questions you have with that week’s Community Resource Specialist. 
  • After about 50 minutes of unstructured playtime, we have about 5 minutes of clean-up, where everyone helps put toys back into bins and closes the lids. 
  • After clean-up, we will have a brief circle time to sing songs and rhymes together before the workshop ends.

Guidelines for the workshop:

  • The Parent Child Workshop is designed to give you or your caregiver a special time with your child for playing, reading, and spending interactive quality time together.
  • Please handle situations concerning your child in a quiet, gentle manner.
  • Remain with your child at all times. 
  • With the exception of bottles necessary for infants, no food is allowed in the room. 
  • Library staff will be in the area at all times available to offer assistance as information and resource specialists.
  • Please stay home if you or your child is sick.

What to expect this week:

  • This week’s Community Resource Specialist focuses on the library and literacy. 
  • This week’s art/activity station will feature coloring and twisting a coffee filter to turn it into a butterfly.

LEGO Club: Speed Games (grades K-5)

If you love building and creating, you'll love our LEGO Club! Each session features a different LEGO-themed activity. This month, participants will race to the top in a speed-stacking LEGO challenge. Builders can challenge each other to see how many bricks they can stack in different time increments, while also making sure the tower can stand on its own!

Registration is required and begins at 9am on Monday, January 12.
