Outdoor Family Early Literacy Class (ages 3-5 with parents/caregivers)

Meet us on the library lawn for Outdoor Family Early Literacy Class. This free event is designed for children aged 3 to 5 years old and their parents or caregivers, although family members of all ages are welcome to attend. Each class consists of 30 minutes of songs, stories, rhymes/fingerplays, and letter recognition.
Please note:
- This summer session of the Family Early Literacy Class (outdoor; drop-in) runs from Wednesday, June 3, through Wednesday, July 29, at 10am.
- We will be on the library lawn for this event. Feel free to bring a tarp/blanket to sit on, as well as sunscreen, hats, and/or bug spray.
- In case of poor weather, this event will occur in the library with limited seating available.

Family Concert with Evan Haller (ages 0-8 with parents/caregivers)

Groove, dance, and participate in an interactive concert featuring Evan Haller from Music at the Blissful in the main auditorium at 2|42 Community Center. Families can bring a blanket and sit together on the floor or in seats. This free event is great for children ages 0-8 and their families. Drop-in; no registration required.

American Folktales with Storyteller Jean Bolley (Outdoors)

Hear from storyteller Jean Bolley as she explores some of the people, myths, and legends central to United States folklore. Davey Crockett, Mike Fink, Pecos Bill, and other famous and well-loved figures are covered in these very American tales. For students entering grades 1-6. Drop-in; no registration required.
The Summer Lunch Bunch will serve a picnic meal at 11:45am. Meals are free and available for anyone to enjoy on a first-come basis.

Book Buddies (grades 1-3)

Book Buddies provides an opportunity for your child entering grades 1-3 to practice their reading over the summer. Each child will be paired with a volunteer to read to and do simple activities together.

Learn basic chess moves and beginner strategies in this class offered over two days, Monday, June 22, and Wednesday, June 24. This course will be taught by Mike Nikitin, a three-time Class C state champion and president of the Livingston County Chess Club. The first day will focus more on beginner basics with some play time; the second day will have a shorter instructional period followed by more play time to put what you learned to the test!
This free course is for children and teens aged 9-17 years old.
Registration is required and begins at 9am on Monday, June 8. Please register each participant. Parents are welcome to watch if they would like.
