Computer and Internet users log in with a valid HCDL library card or guest pass. Cards are available at any public service desk. A guest pass is available at the Computer Help Desk or Youth Services Desk. The user must read and accept the Computer and Internet Use Rules.

Computer and Internet station timeslots are 120 minutes. Use of these stations are available on a first come, first served basis. Users may continue to use a station if no one else is waiting by asking at the Computer Help or Youth Services Desks for an extension.

Users may print by selecting the print function in the application in which they are working. Print jobs are released at a print station with the library card or guest pass that was used for login.

Printing costs are $0.10 per page for black and white and $0.50 per page for color. Users pay for their documents by depositing money into the print station payment machine or by use of a credit/debit card.

When a user’s session is complete, the user ends it by clicking on the menu in the lower right corner and select “End session”. It is not necessary to restart the machine.

All computers and printers are shut down when the Library closes, regardless of when the users’ session started.

The Library reserves the right to end a computer/Internet session at any time if the user is creating a disturbance or if the user fails to comply with Rights & Responsibilities of Users, the Computer and Internet Policy or any other Policies and Procedures. A copy of the HCDL policies may be found on our web site: www.howelllibrary.org

The Library assumes no responsibility for any damages, direct or indirect, arising from use of its computers or Internet connection.
